Our Mission

The purpose of the Jacksonville School District 117 Special Services Department is to provide an appropriate education for students with disabilities, in the least restrictive environment, that will enable them to reach their potential, both academically and personally, and to become functioning members of society.

The Special Services Department includes special education teachers, school psychologists, speech/language specialists, school social workers, related service providers and paraprofessionals. Together we work in partnerships with regular education staff, administration and parents to plan and provide specialized academic and behavioral supports and services in order to promote success for students with exceptional needs.
