Student Teacher/Practicum/Intern/Observation Guidelines and Procedures

District #117 currently accepts student teacher, practicum, intern placements, and observation requests for both the fall and spring semesters. Kelly Zoellner, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment handles the placement of students in our District. Candidates are placed according to the number of cooperating teachers who are willing to host candidates or cooperating teachers who volunteer to host candidates in requested content areas. Placements are limited. If a placement can be made, the Curriculum Department will contact the requesting institution directly. All requests should be received in the Curriculum Department by May 31st for Fall placement and October 30th for Spring placement. Institutions requesting the placement of a candidate will handle all the necessary paperwork for the candidate including billing the candidates for the criminal background check.
